Not quite.
OR is like 6th in unemployment as of Dec 2009. MI has been at the #1 rank like the last 35 of last 36 months, and NV is closely behind it ( both over 13% statewide ) OR is 11%, but other states like Ohio, NC, and especially SC and FL are higher than we are currently.
The only thing dysfunctional right now about the city is its unemployment, but we got hit hard by it because of the hi-tech industry that wanted to set up shop here–the same companies that sent their work overseas

No portland isn’t ghetto at all. You’re talking about it as if its Miami, Chicago, LA or NYC. Man there are some real ghettos there.
What I love about portland is there isn’t very many black people. Any city that has a large number of blacks, has the highest crime rates imaginable. Anyone can sit here and try to say i’m wrong, but facts are fact. I love portland.

@hhhrolling hmmm… interesting comment. the problem is Portland has a low standard of living because the state has the second highest unemployment rate in the nation, one of the highest tax rates in the nation and rapidly growing crime problem. Portland is more of a blight than a eutopia.
Sadly it is true there is currently a liberal urban white ethnic dominance that is pushing the African community out their traditional neighborhoods.
Portland is pretty dysfunctional

It is ironic that the very people who want to move to Oregon because of the environment are the very same people who are killing Oregon’s environment via overpopulation which strains the water supply, air quality, open spaces and more.
In the wise words of Governer Tom McCall, please come visit but do not stay !

@spazguyu2 that’s a bit of an exaggeration but yeah it does rain a lot
#20 by spazguyu2 on February 6, 2010 - 7:45 pm
this is completely unrealistic without there being rain for 90% of the video

The best thing about Portland is that its one of the least racially diverse big cities in America. That means cleaner environment, less violent crime and generally higher standard of living.
